At the outset, it won't be a prejudiced statement to make that Vishal has done justice to the murky crime-drama in Kaminey. After the outstanding movie like "Omkara", the audience expectations were high obviously. And Kaminey if not exactly upto those expectations, has not even turned down the cult. The story shuttles between two narratives which initially appear as discrete as twin brothers Guddu and Charlie (Shahid Kapoor) in the movie. While Charlie lisps, Guddu has the problem of stammering. Both the siblings are as different from each other as chalk is from cheese. And they give a damn to the sight of each other.

Both the siblings are as different from each other as chalk is from cheese. And they give a damn to the sight of each other. As the storyline proceeds and things get indifferent for both the siblings, each one comes for the other’s help. Guddu finds his love in Sweety (Priyanka Chopra), sister of would-be politician and fundamentalist Bhope (Amol Gupte). Charlie gets entangled in a deadly get-rich-quick scheme. When these two stories intersect each other on a rainy night, the plot gets intense and exciting. And the siblings realize that they are deep into the notorious world of drugs, guns and money. Both of them realize that they just have each other and now, escape is the only way to protect themselves, their dreams and their love.
Kaminey is not a usual Bollywood movie and you need to invest some time, to actually get into the world which Vishal has created. He has brilliantly executed this hard-to-conceptualize film, along with excellent story-telling. He has penned exemplary dialogues as well. Cinematography of Tassaduq Hussain is excellent, while background music has only added intensity to it. Shahid's acting is clapworthy and he has proved his caliber by handling two characters, Guddu and Charlie, vividly. Priyanka is just perfect in her role of a chirpy Maharashtrian girl.Amole Gupte, Tenzing Nima, Chandan Roy Sanyal, Shiv Subrahmanyam, and Hrishikesh Joshi, have done a good job.
By the interval time, the movie raises a lot of expectations and the just right placement of Dhan Te Nan makes the proceedings thrilling and stimulating. The second half has been stretched with too many dramatic twists, till it reaches the long drawn climax. Amid numerous characters it takes time to justify the culmination of each character, making the movie quite boring. On the whole, Kaminey is a bold, unpredictable movie and Vishal has dealt with its subject strong-handedly. People, who like to see something different from romance and comedy, would definitely hit the nearby theatres to watch Kaminey.
