Considering the hullabaloo that surrounded the release of 'Kambakht Ishq', it hardly came as a surprise that the movie is completely contrary. Okay, the film does have Hollywood in it - more precisely it’s been shot in Hollywood, has a scene in Kodak Theater (the Oscars venue), and boasts of special appearances by Sylvester Stallone, Denise Richards and Brandon Routh as well. But beyond that, there is hardly anything that can make you watch it till the end. It is full of clichés, be it a Casanova falling for the woman who resists his charms or girl realizing her love only when the guy proposes to someone else.

It is full of clichés, be it a Casanova falling for the woman who resists his charms or girl realizing her love only when the guy proposes to someone else.'Kambakht Ishq' boasts of having four writers working on the script, but sadly not even one of them managed to get it right. The plot is simply faulty, while the jokes are bad and the humor falls flat completely. In fact, at times, the jokes are too crude to fall within the limit of decency. The same remark can be quoted for many of the scenes in the movie as well. As for the pace of the film, the first half is okay, but the second one is pathetically slow. However, 'Kambakht Ishq' does score on one count - cinematography. Vikas Sivaraman has managed to impart a true international feel to the movie.
Talking about performances, Akshay, though he seems to have almost repeated his 'Heyy Baby' act, manages to give a good performance and does complete justice to his role. On the other hand, Kareena shines through the film and looks as hot as ever. However, her poor characterization did not give her much scope to bring out her acting skills. Amrita Arora looks cute, while Aftab is kinda okay. Javed Jaffrey and Boman Irani are totally wasted, while Kiron Kher is becoming too repetitive. The only chances this film has of working will be attributed to its cast and the strike that has left audience desperate for a star-studded film.

The music for 'Kambakkht Ishq' has been provided by Anu Malik, with Anvita Dutt Guptan providing the words to the former's tunes. The story of 'Kambakkth Ishq' revolves around two individuals - Viraj Shergill (Akshay Kumar) and Simrita Rai (Kareena Kapoor) and the bitter-sweet relationship that they share with each other. Both of them are so different from each other, a part of two entirely opposite worlds, that whenever and however they meet, only one thing happens - fireworks! Viraj is a big-time Casanova, who works as a swaggering stuntman in Hollywood. As far as the opposite sex is concerned, he has only mantra in life - “women are only good for two things…making love & making love”.
On the other end of the spectrum, we have Simrita, a hothead who has the ability to stare down even the most arrogant male. If, by any chance, her stare does do the trick, she has sarcastic wit and derisive tongue to fall back on. She also has a mantra about the opposite sex - “all men are dogs”. So, what we have are two people, who are extreme opposites. However, life often tries to play jokes on them, putting them together in the most bizarre, but amusing situations. One fine day, Viraj and Simrita find themselves bound together in a manner unthinkable even in their wildest of dreams. What will happen now? Kambakkht Ishq?
