After going through so much controversy and loads of anticipation, Jodha Akbar has finally hit the screens all over India. And…the movie does not disappoint you at all. Rather, it impresses you with its excellent cinematography, solid storyline and excellent performances. Ashutosh Gowariker has once again proved his talent as a director. He has delivered a brilliant masterpiece and proved all the cynics wrong. The love story between the Mughal Emperor and his Rajput queen definitely manages to strike a chord with the audience. Ashutosh Gowariker has put in a lot of effort into recreating Akbar era and has done an outstanding job.

Right from the costumes to the sets to the dialogues, everything gives you a feel of being in the bygone era. Even the pure Hindi and untarnished Urdu dialogues do not leave any scope for complaint. The screenplay of Jodhaa Akbar maintains historical relevance, yet never leaves you asking for more in terms of contemporary entertainment. Agreed the film is a bit long, but you never ever feel that it’s dragging on. A.R. Rahman has, as usual, impressed with his great musical scores. Though there are flaws in Jodhaa Akbar, but not so much to take away its excellence. Even moon has a dark, doesn’t it!

Talking about performances, Hrithik steals the show. He plays Akbar with effortless ease and totally gets into the character. Aishwarya, with her minimal makeup look, easily manages to steal your heart. Even the chemistry between the two of them is excellent and looks completely natural. Sonu Sood does complete justice to his role and Ila Arun impresses as the nasty foster-mother. The best part of the movie is that it blends the love story perfectly within the war-ridden backdrop. All in all, Jodhaa Akbar is a must watch for all those who appreciate good cinema and want to see powerful performances.
