The Naresh Goyal-owned Jet Airways has purchased a sprawling 15 acres plot adjoining the Brussels airport in Belgium, where it is all set to build a deluxe five star hotel. It is learnt that this 500-room hotel will accommodate primarily the passengers traveling on Jet Airways who shall transit through its base in Brussels as well as its crew members. At the same time, the hotel will also serve as a catering kitchen to serve all the Jet flights taking off from Belgium and London.
The Jet Airways is learnt to have tied up with a major foreign chain of hotels for this venture. The Jet-owned hotel will, however, prominently highlight the Indian culture in order to accomplish its dream of positioning Jet Airways as an ideal Indian brand outside. Fortunately for Jet Airways, it has got Oberoi Hotel chairman, PRS Oberoi is on its board of director team and the airline is expected to make use of his knowledge for this hotel venture. Jet has planned to have traditional Indian dishes on the five-star hotel’s menu.
Jet’s plan to set up a deluxe five star hotel near Brussels airport has received support from the Belgium government. Brussels acts as the base for Jet and other India to US flights also go via here. The building of a hotel by Jet will then provide them with the option to break their journey for sometime to explore Brussels, which will boost local tourism. At the same time, this hotel project will also assist Jet Airways to save a large amount of money.
