After trying hand over a real-dark-grim film — Proud to be an Indian — Puneet Sira attempts to prick the Jai Veeru Moviemasses this time with Jai Veeru. To keep the audiences hooked, the director Sira has tried to revive the old trend of formula movies which consist of six songs, seven action scenes, five blast and chase sequences, several emotional moments, quite a few comic scenes and of course, the romantic segments. Jai Veeru precisely is a partial remake of a not-very-popular Hollywood film - Bulletproof (1996) starring Damon Wayans and Adam Sandler.

The movie does not target the thinking audiences, but people who look for a total farce in terms of plotline. Jai Veeru actually caters to the hardcore masses that are still far away from the new-age cinema. The movie is two hours of assorted entertainment which is good, average and bad as well. It's good in a few parts, specially the twists that have not been properly picturized in the Hollywood film. It's average in some segments as the pace picks up and falls erratically. And it's bad since the writer, who wanted to show just about everything, makes the things illogical. The tale jumps from one track to another, rather than sticking to the main plot.

The direction by Puneet Sira is satisfactory and Bappi Lahiri's music is harmonious. A couple of numbers are catchy, particularly Tenu Leke. K Rajkumar's cinematography is okay, complementing the terrific action scenes of Allan Amin. Fardeen Khan's acting is not even average, nevertheless Kunal Khemu is getting better. The leading ladies — Dia Mirza and Anjana Sukhani — don't have much to do or act. Arbaaz Khan, Govind Namdeo, Rajesh Khattar and Rakesh Bedi are tolerable. For the most part, Jai Veeru is just okay and can be watched — without applying mind — for once.
