The electronic gadget market in India has recently witnessed the arrival of a new entrant, a widescreen media player ‘iPod Touch’ launched by Apple. It contains the same multitouch screen as the iPhone and will be available for purchase at all Apple showrooms across the country from October 16 onwards. One can pick from the two versions of the iPod Touch available - 8 GB and 16 GB pegged at Rs 17,700 and Rs 23,600 respectively.
Once Apple’s iPod Touch enters the market, it will become the first digital player with Wi-Fi facilities and an incorporated Safari web browser. Unlike previous iPod versions, this model has to be activated through a computer before it can be used. The Wi-Fi that has been added to this iPod Touch allows users not only to browse the web, but also wirelessly purchase and download songs through iTunes.
