Infant Growth Chart

An infant growth chart is used by the doctor to know and determine the health conditions of a child. In this article we tell you more about the baby growth chart. A growth chart of an infant helps to tell whether your child is growing normally or not. The doctor uses such a chart for check ups and to determine how the child is growing when compared to other children of the same gender and age. It also helps to determine whether the child is developing proportionately or not.

For example, if a child was growing with a normal pattern till he was 3 years old and suddenly there is a change in the growth pattern; that means the child is going through some kind of health problem. A child's growth pattern is determined not only by the chart but by also looking into the overall genetic background, environment, well being and other such developmental parameters.

There are various measurements that a growth chart is based on. Some of these measurements include the length, head circumference and weight of the baby. Given below is the infant growth chart, right from the time a baby is born to the time they are 10 years old.

By the help of the infant growth chart, you can know whether your child is growing proportionately when compared to other children of same age and gender.
