Hyundai brand, with the popular Santro under its belt, is all set to launch its new car - Santa Fe in India. Though the car has been launched in Korea and throughout the United States of America, it is set to enter the Indian market by mid-2008. With this new model, Hyundai is planning to exploit the SUV market in India, which is presently in its boom phase. Santa Fe has been designed keeping in mind the demands of the market.
As per the reports, Hyundai is launching Santa Fe with the aim of replacing its existing SUV model in India, known as Tucson, that is presently selling for somewhere around Rs 16 lakh. The new car is expected to cater to the customers who are usually buy cars in the range of 8 to 10 lakh and is likely to be priced around Rs 8.5 lakh. Hyundai is expected to launch the diesel variant of its Santa Fe in India.
The one launched abroad has a 2200cc common-rail turbo-diesel engine, which delivers 152 bhp at 4000 rpm and a promising 35 kgm at 2000 revs. The oil burner of the car has been paired with new five-speed manual and automatic transmission options. The features as well as the looks of the upcoming car promise to be excellent. But, whether the new Hyundai Santa Fe manages to capture the hearts of India or not is left to be seen.
