The automobile market of India is ever expanding, with new models being launched almost every other day. Right now, Hyundai Motor India (HMIL), amongst the largest automobile manufactures in the country, has announced its plans of wooing the customers with a new model. It is all set to launch its new model - i20, an upgraded version of the recently launched i-10 compact car, in India, by the end of 2008.
Just like Hyundai i10, i20 will also be produced exclusively in the Indian Territory. From here, it will be exported to the other countries of the world. The car is expected to be launched at a price of somewhere around Rs 5 to 6 lakh. It is believed that it will be fitted with an automatic gear box, which will assist

It has a low slung grille in the front, with large headlamps and round fog lamps. The windscreen has been sharply scraped, in a way that it flows smoothly and merges with the fresh tail section. Just like Renault Clio, Hyundai i20 also has a vertical tailgate that provides more space for luggage.
The interiors of the car are top-quality and have been fitted with elite plastics. The seating layout is pretty flexible and quite similar to i10. In fact, from the inside, the car will be even more spacious than Getz. Powering the new Hyundai i20 will be a 1.2 liter gasoline engine (kappa), developing 58KW. Hyundai is also developing a new 1.1L CRDi, pumping out 55KW. The company also has plans of launching three door hatchback of i20 in Europe, by 2009.
With the opening of its Sriperumbudur plant, the overall manufacturing capacity of Hyundai Motor India has gone up from 300,000 units to 600,000 units per annum. In the present year, Hyundai expects to move up its sales volume of i10 to 200,000, including the domestic as well as the overseas market. The automobile giant has set a combined sales target of 500,000 units for all its models. Out of this, it expects to sell around 230,000 units in India.
