How To Tie A Silk Tie?

Ties are an integral part of the formal attire. To dress the part at any black tie event or in corporate meetings requires that you flaunt the tie. Even though wearing of neckties is at an all time low, it will be to your advantage if you know how to tie them. If you know how to correctly tie your tie then you will be saved from the trouble of running after someone to tie you one, in case the need arises. The good news is that a silk tie, or any tie for that matter is quite easy to tie. In case of silk tie the only difference is that, you must take some extra care. Other than that, the fabric does not matter on how well you tie the knot. According to fashion experts, any standard knots will do for a silk tie, but since it is more formal and stunning, you should go for the elaborate knots. Tips On Tying A Silk Tie
 
A Windsor Knot 
  • Place the tie on your neck in such a way that the wide end is on your right, and it extends at least a foot longer than the narrow end.
  • Now cross the wide end over the narrow end and bring it up through the loop.
  • Again, cross the wide end over narrow one and bring it up through the loop.
  • Then put the wide end through the loop and turn it across.
  • Turn it and pass up through the loop.
  • Bring the wide end through the knot in front. Tighten and draw up to the collar. 
Half Windsor Knot 
  • Place the tie on your neck in such a way that the wide end is on your right, and it extends at least a foot longer than the narrow end.
  • Now cross the wide end over the narrow one and turn it back, underneath.
  • Bring the wide end up and turn down through loop.
  • Pass it around the front, from left to right and then bring it up through the loop.
  • Now pass it down through the front. Tighten carefully and draw up to the collar. 
Four In Hand Knot 
  • Place the wide end of the tie on your right and extend it a foot below the narrow end.
  • Cross the wide end over the narrow one and bring it back underneath.
  • Pass the wide end across the front of the narrow end once more.
  • Pass the side, end up through the loop.
  • Hold the front of the knot loose with the index finger and pass the wide end down through loop in front.
  • Remove the finger and tighten the knot carefully. Draw up tight to the collar by holding narrow end of the knot and sliding knot tight. 
Bow Tie
  • Take one end in right hand and extend it 1.5 inch below the other end in left hand.
  • Now, cross the longer end over the shorter one and pass it up through the loop.
  • Form the front loop of the bow by doubling up the shorter end and placing it across the collar points.
  • Hold this front loop with the thumb and forefinger of the right hand and drop the long end down over the front.
  • Place the left forefinger pointing up on the bottom half of the hanging part and pass it up behind the front loop.
  • Pull the loops through the knot, behind the front loop. Straighten the tie and even the ends.
