Materials Required
  • Winemaking Press/ Destemmer/ Crusher
  • Wine Yeast
  • Oak barrel/ Stainless-steel Vats
  • Fermentation Tank
Instructions
  • The first step would be to organize the working area. Thereafter, you need to sterilize all the equipments that you would require in the white wine making process.
  • The next step would be to prepare the grapes, by cleaning and pressing them. You need to use a winemaking press as well, for extracting the juice from the skin. You many even use a destemmer or crusher for the purpose.
  • Now, transfer the extracted grape juice to a fermentation tank or an oak barrel. While transferring, add as little solid matter as possible. This would help you get highest quality white wine. Make sure that the fermentation tank is made from either stainless-steel or plastic material.
  • Once this is done, add low-foaming yeast to the grape. This fermentation process generally takes 3 to 4 weeks.
  • Check the juice everyday, while you gauge the fermentation process, lest you want to turn the juice to vinegar.
  • Temperature is an important factor that you need to consider in the fermentation process, as it affects both the flavor and color of white wine. During fermentation, the juice needs to be kept at a constant temperature.
  • Usually, crystals form in the white wine mixture, during the fermentation process. Using cold stabilization, you can get rid of the crystals. However, the process is optional, as it causes cosmetic enhancement of wine.
  • In case you want to remove the crystals, freeze the wine for about 3 days after fermentation. The low temperature would stick the crystals to the sides of the container, when the wine is poured out.
  • Aging the wine is the last step in the white wine making process. While oak barrels are the best bet, nowadays, stainless steel vats (with oak chips along their bottom) are also used. Allow the wine to mature for about a year.
  • Your exotic white wine is ready to be relished!!
