Egg Face Mask Recipe

Materials Required
  • 1 large Egg
  • Mixing bowl
  • Apple Cider Vinegar
  • Honey
  • Lavender Essential Oil/ Lemon Essential Oil
  • Blender

Procedure
  • In a small mixing bowl, crack open the egg and beat the yolk properly, till you get a well-blended mixture. You can use either a blender or a simple fork for the purpose.
  • To the above mixture, add 1½ tsp of honey and continue to mix until you get a uniform paste. Pour in the apple cider vinegar and continue the mixing.
  • Add the lavender essential oil and beat the egg mixture for a while. This oil is perfect for dry to normal skin types. However, for an oily skin texture, you can substitute the lavender oil with lemon essential oil. Blending the oil with the egg mixture will take some time and so, the mixing should be done properly and continuously.
  • Your egg facemask is ready.

Using The Egg Face Mask
  • The first step is the preparation of the application area and this should be done in a systematic manner. Start by cleaning the facial and neck areas, using a mild facial soap, cleanser or scrubber.
  • After applying the cleanser, clean or rinse the face using lukewarm water. Using too much hot or cold water may cause damage to the skin. Pat dry your face by using a soft, clean towel.
  • Using clean fingertips, apply the egg mixture over the entire facial area. Make sure to apply a generous coating of the same, in layers.
  • Keep the pack on for some time and allow it to dry completely. This should approximately be for a period of about 20 to 30 minutes.
  • As the mask gets dry, it will tighten up and make it difficult to move the muscles of the face. It is always better to prevent any facial movement during this time, as this can lead to a break in the mask.
  • Using lukewarm water, rinse the area completely and thoroughly and pat it dry using a towel. Any extra egg facial mask remaining in the bowl should be discarded, as the mask requires the use of fresh egg yolk.

Alternate Method
  • An alternate method of preparing and using the egg facial mask is by using the white portion of the egg all over the face, in an upward circular motion. One should use caution while applying, as it is vital to avoid the ocular zone.
  • Allow the paste to remain for a period of about 20 to 30 minutes or until it hardens. For oily skin, add a few drops of lemon essence oil to eliminate the excess oil.
  • Gradually remove the egg white portion from the face, by rinsing it using lukewarm water.
  • Next, apply the yolk around the face in a similar fashion as the egg white. Allow it to remain for 15 to 20 minutes and then rinse the paste and pat dry.
