Almost every young girl wants to have colorful rubber bands to enhance their hair style and look cool. But rubber bands can be damaging and can end up breaking hair. What could possibly be a better option than rubber bands and are stylish and colorful? The answer to this is a scrunchie! These colorful bands can hold your hair in a tight pony tail like a rubber band and also look funky. What’s more? A scrunchie can be made at the comforts of your home on a lazy afternoon when you have nothing better to do! So check out these instructions on how to make a hair scrunchie all by yourself.
You Need:
- 1/2-inch-wide Elastic
- Fabric or Cloth Pieces
- Safety Pins
- Sewing Needles
- Threads
Instructions:
- Take a fabric or cloth piece, which measures 4-5 inches wide and 18-20 inches long. You can get this from either a tailor or from your old shirts, scarves, bandanas, etc.
- Now fold the fabric into an exact half lengthwise keeping the printed side on the inside.
- Sew along the side seam lengthwise and make sure to leave both the ends open for putting in the elastic.
- Now, the fabric will resemble a tube. Turn it inside out so that you have the right side out.
- Insert 5-7 inches of the ½ inch wide elastic through the fabric tube by threading it in through one end and holding one end of the elastic at that end.
- Now stitch one end of the elastic to the fabric to make sure it stays in place.
- Now slide one end of the tube over the other end and make a small hem. Stitch both the ends together with hand and you have your own scrunchie ready to be worn!
