  • First of all, you will have to measure the opening in the countertop, where you are going to install the sink. Kitchen sinks are available in standard sizes and you will have to get proper measurements of the area, in order to get a sink of the perfect size and shape.
  • After you have the measurements in hand, it is the time to go shopping for the sink. In terms of material, the most common choice that you will find would include stainless steel and porcelain. Apart from that, you will also have to choose between shallow and deep bowl sinks.
  • So, you have purchased sink for your kitchen, which goes with the overall décor as well. It is the time to gather all the supplies that you would need, for the purpose of installing the same. This will include plumber's putty or caulk, sink mounting clips, screwdriver, faucet lines and P-trap pipe.
  • Begin the installation procedure by turning off the water supply to the kitchen. Now, get the new sink and flip it over, on top of the countertop. Keep it next to the area where you want to install it.
  • Before you place the sink in the opening that is meant for it, keep the sink strainers and faucet therein. It will be easier to place them this way, rather than from the underside of the sink.
  • In the next step, you will need to apply a line of plumber's putty or caulk around the entire under edge of the sink. Now, turning the sink right side up, place it in the opening. Make sure to press it down, around the edge where you have applied the putty or caulk.
  • In the final steps, you will have to attach sink mounting clips and use a screwdriver to tighten them up. Thereafter, install the p-trap pipe and hook up the faucet lines to cold and hot sides. Finish off by turning on the water and flushing out the new pipes.
