Cleaning Your Steel Kitchen Sink
  • Take the dishes out of the sink and wash them properly. Now, keep them aside, to let them air-dry.
  • Look for any solid debris, like vegetable peels or food particles, which might have fallen from the dish to the sink. Remove this debris and make the sink free of any such substances.
  • Pour hot water all over the sink and rinse it properly.
  • Take some baking soda and sprinkle on the sink. Allow the baking soda to settle down for around an hour.
  • Wet a sponge with cold water. Scrub the sink, containing baking soda, with the sponge. Rinse the sink thoroughly with cold running water.
  • Pour a small quantity of vinegar on the sponge and rub the sink again. Once it is done, rinse again with cold water. Vinegar helps in removing the water spots and tough stains that could not be removed by baking soda.
  • Now, use a cleanser for final cleansing of the sink. Pour a small amount on the sponge and rub the sink properly with it. Remember that all the above solutions i.e. baking soda, vinegar and cleanser should be poured on the outer surface of the sink as well.
  • Once you are done with the cleanser, rinse the sink properly with water. Take care that you do not leave any cleanser on the sink, as this may leave spots on drying.
  • Once you are done with the cleaning, pat dry the sink, using a clean bathroom towel. You need to dry the sink properly in order, to enable you to polish it.
  • Take a soft, lint free cloth and polish the sink. Continue polishing until you see your kitchen sink shining.

Tips
  • You can keep your sink shining for a long time by giving it a light cleaning every time you use it. Take out the food residues before they dry and wash the sink using a small quantity of dish soap. If you clean your sink regularly, it will have the shine at all times and you will need not put great effort in cleaning it up.
  • While washing the sink, it is advisable to put on gloves, as the cleanser, baking soda and other solutions may harm your hands.
  • Avoid using steel wool while cleaning stainless steel sink. Steel wool causes scratches on the surface and can ruin the look of your sink.
  • Never use chlorine bleach or any cleanser solution containing bleach, for your stainless steel sink. They tend to damage the steel.
  • Olive oil and club soda are other components that work effectively in removing stains from stainless steel sink.
  • Instead of sprinkling the baking soda, you can try out by mixing 2 teaspoons of baking soda in a cup of warm water. Dip your sponge in it and use it to rub the sink, in small circular motions. Now, rinse the sink with cold running water.
