Honda To Launch New Bikes At Auto Expo 2008

 
Honda Motorcycle and Scooters India (HMSI), India’s fastest growing two-wheeler company, is prepared to unveil three new products at the approaching Auto Expo in New Delhi with an aim to expand its hold over the market in the country. It is learnt that HMSI plans to enter into the 125 cc automatic scooter sector. Furthermore, the company will also introduce two new motorcycles in the 125 cc and 150 cc division.
 
As per industry insiders, Honda Motorcycle and Scooters India (HMSI) Company will display its new creations in the forthcoming Delhi Auto Expo in January next year prior unleashing them in the Indian market. HMSI officials, however, have refrained from divulging any specifications yet. It is learnt that along with the soon-to-be launched three products from the HMSI stable, this two-wheeler company will also showcase few concepts on behalf of its parent company, Honda Motor at the Auto Expo 2008. 
 
HMSI has shown impressive growth irrespective of the fact that the two-wheeler market has shown a dip in sales the past months. The HMSI was recorded to grow by about 45 per cent to 5,09,930 units in April-October time period. During the same time, the total two-wheeler industry showed depreciation by eight percent in sales to 42, 58,747 units from 46, 52,203 units recorded previous year.
 
HMSI’s progress pillion rides its scooter models – the 150 cc Eterno and the 100 cc Activa and Dio that gave the company a whooping 58 per cent market share.   
As such, it is to retain its principal position that the company has planned to foray into the 125 cc segment tagging the launch of Suzuki Motorcycle, India’s Access and Kinetic Motor’s Flyte. Though the Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Company (HMSI) has marginal presence in the bike’s sector with only four per cent share, it coped to up its sales by 33 per cent to 1,44,716 units in April-October time period from the 2,75,281 units recorded previous year.
