Most of us love to own a vegetable garden right at our backyard. However, along with fresh vegetables, some unwanted pests, such as insects, bugs and mosquitoes, can also be found in such a garden. They make your life all the more miserable in the rainy season. Though you can use conventional sprays to kill them, they prove to be quite expensive as well as dangerous. Most of them use ingredients that are harmful to humans and pets. In such a case, homemade insect spray can be the perfect substitute. It proves to be nontoxic, causes less damage to the soil and also protects your vegetables from any harmful chemicals. How To Make Bug Spray For Outdoor Vegetable Plants
 
Mint Soap Spray
 
  • Mix two tablespoons of strong mint soap with a gallon of clean water.
  • Pour the mixture in a spray bottle and spray it on the foliage of your plantation.
  • Avoid spraying too much, since the soapy water can burn several vegetations. 
Pepper Spray 
  • Chop 2/3 cup of hot peppers and add them to 3 cups of water.
  • Boil the mixture for sometime.
  • Strain the mixture to remove the pepper particles and pour in a spray bottle.
  • This spray helps in evading ants and other small insects. 
Garlic & Mineral Oil  
  • Take a dozen garlic cloves and chop them into very small pieces.
  • Add them to 4 oz mineral oil.
  • Allow the mixture to sit for a few hours and strain out the garlic cloves.
  • Add 4 drops of dishwashing soap to the mixture and pour it into a spray bottle. 
Spearmint & Orange Oil 
  • Mix 10 drops of spearmint oil and 15 drops of orange essential oil and stir in 2 quarts of salt water.
  • Pour the mixture to a spray bottle.
  • This is an effective solution to get rid of insects in the vegetable garden. 
Citrus Spray 
  • Place one large orange rind or 2 to 3 lemon or lime rinds in a heatproof bowl.
  • Pour boiling water over the rinds and allow the mixture to sit overnight.
  • Strain the mixture to remove the rinds and add a teaspoon of dish soap.
  • This spray is a great option for deterring aphids and other pests. 
Garlic Spray  
  • Blend a whole bulb of garlic and soak the pulp in water for one or two days.
  • Strain out the garlic and add a teaspoon of dish soap to the strained water.
  • Mix thoroughly and pour in a spray bottle. 
Ammonia Spray  
  • Mix 1 part of ammonia with 7 parts of water and pour the liquid in a spray bottle.
  • This spray will kill all the aphids, mealy bugs, mites and scales and also ensure that any eggs laid on the plants or soil do not hatch.
