If you are planning to go and watch 'Heroes' only because you have nothing else to do, and are not expecting to be much entertained, you are in for a surprise, though a pleasant one. Though it looks otherwise, it is not an overly patriotic film; neither does it talk about war or fighting for your nation. Rather, 'Heroes' conveys the simple message that you don't need to be in army to be patriotic and even a common man can harbor passionate love for his country.

Samir Karnik has improved his storytelling skills to a great extent and manages to convey his message effectively. Talking about the technical aspects, the cinematography of Binod Pradhan and Gopal Shah is excellent. They have managed to capture the picturesque locales of North India beautifully. While Sajid-Wajid’s music is top notch, the dialogues written by Aseem Arora, Sameer Karnik are pretty good. 'Heroes' is one of those films that stir your emotions.

As for performances, Salman Khan deserves the maximum applause. 'Heroes' marks one of his best performances till date. Preity Zinta was outstanding, while Sunny was commendable, after a long time. Mithun Chakraborty was completely in form and Sohail Khan seemed to have evolved as an actor. Bobby, though in a cameo, left an impression. Vatsal Seth, Dino and Prateeksha Lonkar were decent enough, while Dwij Yadav definitely managed to impress. Amrita Arora and Ria Sen were ok. The film will get popular by a strong word of mouth.

Heroes Pre-release Review

Sameer Karnik's third directorial venture - after 'Nanhe Jaisalmer' and 'Kyon Ho Gaya Na', 'Mera Bharat Mahan' has now been re-titled as 'Heroes'. The reason why it was renamed is that 'Mera Bharat Mahan' made the film look patriotic, which it is not. Rather, it is a youth-film, based on a road trip of two boys. Belonging to the 'social' genre, the movie has been produced by Bharat Shah, Sameer Karnik and Vikas Kapoor. It will be released on 24th October 2008, under the banner of 'Future Picture Company Pvt. Ltd' and 'Mega Bollywood Pvt. Ltd'.

The music directors of 'Heroes' are Monty Sharma and Sajid-Wajid, while Jalees Sherwani and Rahul Seth have provided the lyrics to their tunes. The star cast of the movie boasts of names like Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Dino Morea, Riya Sen, Vatsal Seth, Salman Khan, Mithun Chakraborty, Preity Zinta, Sohail Khan and Amrita Arora. The story of 'Heroes' revolves around two boys, who have started on a road trip, taking them, first from Delhi to Chandigarh and then, from Manali to Ladakh.

As the boys continue their road trip, they come across certain real life characters, which have been played by Salman Khan, Preity Zinta, Sohail Khan, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol. As they spend time with these characters, they get thoroughly impressed. In fact, such is the affect of these meetings that the boys start feeling heroism budding within them. This is what the story is all about; the drastic change in the lives of two boys, brought about by people who they didn’t even knew and met on the way only.
