HCL Introduces Eco-Friendly PCs

A new series of environmental friendly personal computers were recently introduced in the Indian market by HCL Infosystems. As a part of the special ‘HCL eSafe’ project, the new desktops conform to the RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) standards and contain very meagre or no amount of perilous materials like lead, cadmium and mercury. At the same time, the desktops are recyclable too. This new series of HCL desktops is priced between Rs 15,000 and Rs 60,000. 

A subsidiary of HCL Enterprises, HCL Infosystems has been playing a pioneering role in India through its comprehensive e-waste programme. There will be around 200 collection centres across the country where people can deposit their used mobiles and other electronic equipments. It is learnt that the company has entered into an agreement with the Chennai based recycling firm ‘Trishiraya’ where all its products would be send for recycling.
