Hardly fifteen minutes inside the theater and you start feeling that you could have done something better with your time. As the movie further progresses, the first thing that comes into mind is that it could have done with a better storyline. In fact, the dismal, hackneyed and archaic story is one of the major drawbacks of ‘Hastey Hastey’. Even the screenplay and dialogues do nothing to put life into a listless script.

Looking at the bright side, one can say that the movie has been handled by deft hands, those of director Tony and he has even managed to salvage the show a little bit. The look of the film is pretty chic and Tony has definitely made use of some of the most panoramic locales in the US. Even Anu Malik has done a good job with Hastey Hastey, with his music managing to make you hum a few lines, along side the track.

As far as the performances go, Jimmy Shergill has definitely given his best and done complete justice to his role. Then, there is Rajpal Yadav, who keeps the viewers entertained with a few laughs here and there. The two main ladies, Nisha Rawal and Monishka, are well, looking good, though the same cannot be said about their acting. As for Jawed Sheikh, Manoj Joshi and Shakti Kapoor, they are totally wasted.

Hastey Hastey Pre-release Review
Get ready to have some quick laughs in May. Go Cam Films is coming up with a comedy movie ‘Hastey Hastey’, which asks you to ‘follow your heart’. The movie has been directed by Toony, while its producers include Ashutosh Bajpai and Shivaram Kumar. Then, we have the lyrics by Sameer, which have been enhanced by the music of Anu Malik. The star cast of Hastey Hastey comprises of Jimmy Shergill, Rajpal Yadav, Nisha Rawal, Manoj Joshi, Upasna Singh, Monishka Gupta, Sarah Thomas, Jawed Sheikh and Shakti Kapoor.

As the movie begins, we come across Neel (Jimmy Sheirgill), one of the brilliant students at Columbia University. He also has a lady love, Maya (Nisha Rawal), with whom he is about to start his new life in the New York City. Neel has a friend Sunny Malhotra (Rajpal Yadav), who is also his roommate as well as teammate. A good person and a trustworthy friend, Sunny has only one problem. He is not at all good in studies and cannot help flirting, if and when he gets an opportunity. His affair with Tina (Sarah Thomas) provides you with a lot of laughs.

Till now, life seems to be going perfectly for Neel. He has an excellent academic record, is with a wonderful partner and can bank upon a dependable friend. However, no one knows when life takes a turn and changes all the equations. Something like this happens with Neel also, when he gets a career opportunity that demands that he goes to India, in order to set up a call centre business. Sensing it as one of the best opportunities of his life, he agrees to go, much to the chagrin of Maya.

As Neel comes to India, he meets the young and sexy, Tanvi (Monishka). She is an executive who seems to take too much pain to help Neel and his team in India, which in reality account to her efforts to win Neel’s heart. Since Neel is sincerely in love with Maya, he spurns Tanvi’s advances. This results in her turning into a ‘woman seeking revenge’. She traps Neel in such a way that his personal and professional life gets at stake. How Neel manages to get out of the situation and win back Maya is what the rest of the film is all about.
