‘There Will be Blood’ is a movie that revolves around Daniel Plainview (Daniel Day-Lewis), a man who happens to chance upon oil while working as a silver miner. In the years that follow, he becomes super-rich. But through these years, it is only wealth that he has gained, while losing out on values like morality, value for human life, etc. His greed for money leads him to a young man - Eli Sunday (Paul Dano), in whom he finds his perfect match.
Daniel meets Eli for the purpose of extracting oil for his property. In reality, he looks forward to cheating the Sunday family out of their share. What follows is a constant clash between Eli and Daniel, with the latter’s conscience pricking him every now and then. ‘There Will be Blood’ is essentially a saga of human emotions and values and how people are losing the latter in the pursuit of money, wealth and power.
