A study released by the automotive research firm JD Power Asia Pacific, has three Chevrolet cars as winners. The three cars are Aveo, Spark and Optra and have won the top slot in various categories. In terms of quality in the compact car segment, the top honor has gone to Chevrolet Spark. Chevrolet Aveo was declared winner along with Honda City in the mid-size car segment.
The highest in the premium mid-size car segment was scored by Chevrolet Optra and was declared the winner in that category. Chevrolet Aveo U-VA was declared second in the premium compact segment while the top position went to Maruti Swift. The SUV segment was topped by Honda CR-V. In the MUV or multi utility vehicle segment, Chevrolet Tavera was declared second while the top position went to Toyota Innova. The Logan, by Mahindra Renault was declared winner in the entry level sedan segment.
This study is very helpful as the industry benchmark for measuring new vehicle quality at maximum six months of ownership. The study examines more than 200 problems in 2 separate categories, that of design and production quality. Essentially, eight major vehicle components are examined that include vehicle exterior, vehicle interior, driving experience, features/controls and displays, entertainment and navigation, seating, ventilation and heating/cooling (HVAC) and engine and transmission. The one with least problems is chosen as the obvious winner.
