Gall Bladder Diet

The pear-shaped organ, gall bladder, is located on the underside of the liver and contains bile. When half digested food goes from the stomach into the small intestine, the function of the gall bladder is to discharge bile to help in food digestion in the body. When people do not take proper or healthy diet, it results in the formation of gallstones that obstructs the bile ducts and meddles in the smooth functioning of the gall bladder - i.e. digestion of food. This is a common ailment and so it is suggested that people follow correct diet to remain fit and fine.      
 
The gall bladder problem is found to be an increasingly common phenomenon in obese people, whereas the main reason causing this ailment is accrued to consumption of fat-rich food. Females more than 50 years of age, those suffering from gastro-intestinal problems, diabetes and high-cholesterol levels are also more prone to developing gall bladder diseases. Gall bladder malfunctioning can cause acute complications and at times may need surgical involvement. For instance, it can cause inflammation and swelling of the gall bladder, infection of the gall bladder and bile duct and so on.
 
Except the case of large gallstones, adhering to a proper gall bladder diet is normally known to help in both prevention and containing of a number of small gall bladder problems. A good gall bladder diet should not include food items that are full of saturated fat like meats comprising pork, ribs, bacon, sausages, salami and dairy products. A good option is to replace these with soy items in your daily diet. Also avoid having fast food as much as possible and opt for home-cooked one instead. Plus, refrain from eating too much food in a single meal.
 
Gall bladder diet rich in fiber can help in doing away with small gallstones and assists in digestion. So have lots of greens and fruits every day as they are rich in natural fibers and are a storehouse of vitamins and minerals. Also have food with high content of starch in them. Ensure that your healthy gall bladder diet consists of plenty of cereals, wheat products, rice and potatoes. For all people and especially those suffering from gall bladder problems, it pertinent to have plenty of fluids. So drink a minimum of two litres of water daily to keep all gall bladder ailments at bay!
