Fruit And Nut Pre-release Review
After the rib-tickling ‘All The Best’, we were expecting a side-splitting ‘Fruit And Nut’ as well. However, it seems that we had put up our expectation too high. Except for a few clever gags scattered sparsely, we could hardly find anything in the film that could make it qualify as a comedy. Though there are a few smart satires weaved in the plot, along with spoofs on Bollywood big shots, they are so subtle that majority of the audience might end up overlooking them altogether. The characters fail to strike a chord with the audience and seem to be trying too hard to be funny.
Diya Mirza is the only actor who can be applauded somewhat. And she sure is looking hot in those sarees! Apart from that, there is not even a single noteworthy performance in the movie. Cyrus is just not meant for the ‘clumsy buffoon’ performance. He seems to be too sure of himself instead. Boman Irani gets repetitive after a point of time, while the only thing Mahesh Manjrekar does is deliver a hodgepodge of synonyms and proper nouns. This is surely one movie that we would advise you to avoid watching in a multiplex. Even DVD watching is advisable only when you have nothing better to do.
Fruit And Nut Pre-release Review
'Fruit And Nut' is a comic flick which marks the directorial debut of Kunal Vijaykar. The movie stars the famed MTV jockey Cyrus Broacha in the lead role and the other actors include Diya Mirza, Boman Irani, and Mahesh Manjrekar. Sangeet Haldipur and Siddharth have composed music for the film, which is slated for a release on October 23, under the banner of Indian Films. 'Fruit and Nut' narrates the story of a simple, hard working, middle-class bachelor Jolly Maker (Cyrus Broacha), who is struggling hard and is on the lookout for money, success, friends, and last but not the least, love. He works as an accountant for Khandar, a corrupt and money-minded builder. Jolly is a nerd who knows little about style or how to woo women, but he is, undoubtedly, an adorable character.
The twist in the tale unfolds when Jolly's beautiful and smart colleague, Monica (Diya Mirza), who has earned a reputation of being a snob, is kidnapped from office under mysterious circumstances. The incident marks the beginning of a humorous roller-coaster ride replete with Jolly's comical fiascos. As the story progresses, he finds himself trying to safely pull out of plot hatched by a nutty ex-Maharaja, to destroy the city of his dreams, Mumbai.
Will the cute Jolly be able to save Monica? What will happen to our adorable ‘City of Dreams’ Mumbai? Will Jolly fall in love and be able to claim his love-interest? Will he see all his dreams fulfilled? With the movie ready to hit the theaters on the October 23, the viewers will get to know the answers very soon. Till then, it is just ‘wait and watch’.
