The Indian personal care market couldn’t have asked for more! After popular French brands like L’Oreal, Clarins, Vichy, Christian Dior, Nina Ricci, S.T. Dupont, Cartier and Louis Vuitton making their presence felt in India, it is time to welcome yet another up-market luxury brand. This time, it is the famous French hair and salon chain, Jean Claude Biguine, which is set to enter the Indian retail market.
The French brand apparently has plans to invest an amount of over Rs. 150 crore. The reason as to why French brands are doing so well in India is because these goods and services are reputed for their reliability and can be trusted to be credible, more so in the high-end segment. More recently, the removal of trade barriers in the Indian economy has boosted the foreign brands to create a niche for themselves here.
The upsurge in Indian households with their increased purchasing power and more awareness about global market is another reason that has been encouraging foreign brands to invest in the Indian market. India has showed a very bright growth prospect as far as the personal care industry is concerned and is at the top position in the A.T Kearney’s Global Retail Developmental Index. Moreover, French brands are known for their personal care and beauty products; all the more reason why they should be flowing into India.
