Formula 1 Race In India By 2010

After tennis, it perhaps time now for Formula 1 racing to gather momentum in a significantly cricket-dominated India. For its official that India will host the F1 Grand Prix in the year 2010. Though rumors were agog since a very long time, the news confirmed by F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone recently, who added it would provide a healthy spurt to the game in the country in future.

It is learnt that the Formula 1 bosses have inked a 10 year agreement with the Indian firm Jaiprakash Associates and its JPSK Sports Private subsidiary to build a race circuit in the national capital. The race organizers and the Indian Olympic Association further revealed that two venues on the outskirts of New Delhi have already been fixed to build a circuit.

The news about India hosting the 2010 F1 race comes on the heels of the Indian business tycoon Dr. Vijay Mallya, the chairman of the UB Group, acquiring the Spyker team some time back and renaming it Force India. With this, he becomes the first Indian to be the owner of an Indian Formula 1 team. The game is expected to win a lot of fans in the country in the coming time.

Clearly, it has made all F1 aficionados in India very glad as they have wanted a F1 Grand Prix to be held here ever since Narain Karthikeyan became the first Indian F1 driver in 2005. Narain Karthikeyan came to Formula 1 racing on the Jordan-Toyota team. There are also talks that Karun Chandhok could be seen driving in the Formula One race this time around.
