Force India, the Formula One motor racing team co-owned by Vijay Mallya, is all set to win the race this year. The team launched its Formula One car for 2008 on 7th February 2008, Thursday. The massive ‘Gateway of India’ served as the perfect backdrop for the launch of the power-packed car, which was unveiled in Mumbai, the ‘Bollywood City of India’. Known as VJM01, the car has a Ferrari engine and the same basic chassis that was used by Spyker, the team’s predecessor, last year.
However, there have been a number of improvements on the previous model, especially on the aerodynamic package. VJM01 definitely promises to be much more powerful. The team has already revealed that Giancarlo Fisichella and German Adrian Sutil will be its drivers for Formula One 2008. The racing season will be starting in Australia, on 16th March. The first test run of VJM01 has been scheduled for 25the February, for Spain’s Barcelona circuit. After finishing 10th last year, the Indian team is surely looking forward to turn the past in 2008.
Known as Spyker, Force India was bought by a corporate group last year and renamed. The group was headed by none other than the Liquor Baron, Vijay Mallya. As per Vijay Mallya, Force India is surely expected to move ahead towards success, especially after the financial, technical and human investment made towards it. The budget for this season has seen an increase of $50 million from last year, taking it to a total of $120 million. Let see what will the Force India Team, dressed in a livery of gold, tungsten and white, manage to do this year.
