The Indian motorcycle market could not have had a better boost up. The motorbike giant Ducati has just launched five new superbikes in the Indian two-wheeler market. Due to increase in the purchasing power amongst individuals, the time is perfect for a sales expansion. Despite the fact that the Indian bike segment is flooded with small cc motorbikes, basically used for commuting and transportation, the introduction of superbikes comes as a fresh change for all those die-hard bike lovers.
The Ducati motorbikes will be imported from Italy and will thus face a heavy import duty of 60%. This means each bike will cost more than a whopping Rs. 10 lakhs. The motorbikes are expected have engines above 800 cc. The reason why these bikes are being launched here is due to the fact that India has the second largest two-wheeler market in the world. The launch and sale of the five superbikes in India will add another feather in the cap for Ducati.
As of now, the Italian bikes will be sold in India through a single distributor based in Mumbai. Besides Ducati, India’s two-wheeler market has also attracted renowned bike manufacturers like Harley Davidson, Triumph, Honda and Kawasaki. Ina few months time, automobile giant Suzuki is planning to launch its famous 1300 cc bike Hayabusa and Honda will be seen selling the CBR 1000 RR.
