Fiat India is all set to launch the new Fiat 500, a two door baby lifestyle car, in April this year. However, the most intriguing information revealed is that this stylish mini will bear a price tag, over 13 Nanos, i.e. around Rs 13 lakh plus. More so, the launch of Fiat 500 along with Fiat Bravo is more of an image building exercise in the Indian market by the classic company. This is attributed to the fact that the new Fiat is a look alike of Fiat 500 of the yore.
It exhibits skilled Italian style and packaging and will compete with BMW built Mini, to be launched soon in the market. Yet Fiat 500 speculates an upper hand as BMW sources revealed that their small wonder will be priced around Rs. 20 lakh plus. Thus, the price margin is expected to help Fiat India in gaining an edge and thereby creating a niche for itself in the chic small car market.
Measuring only 3.55 metres long, Fiat 500 claims to be safer than other bigger cars. Working for its benefit, it has even received a five star rating in EuroNCAP tests. Furthermore, it boasts of features like, seven air safety bags, including a knee bag, electronic stability programme and several engine options, namely 100 bhp 1400cc petrol and the 75 bhp 1300cc MultiJet diesel, already seen in the Maruti Suzuki Swift in India.
