One of the major problems with ‘Dil Bole Hadippa’ is that it brings nothing new onscreen. It seems that you have already seen something like this before. The overdose of emotions also gets at you, at times. The entry of Sherlyn Chopra and Rakhi Sawant, though intended for adding a glamour quotient, seems to put you off. There is only one reason why ‘Dil Bole Hadippa’ works - Rani Mukherjee and Shahid Kapoor. Rani is looking like a million dollars and has given her best to the film. Shahid is, as usual, commendable and her chemistry with Rani is surely worth watching. In case you have nothing better to do this weekend, watching the flick would not be a bad deal!
If you are a hardcore ‘Yash Raj Films’ fan, then you would surely enjoy watching ‘Dil Bole Hadippa’. Revolving around the story of Veera, a girl who poses as a Sikh guy to fulfill her dream of playing cricket, the movie has all the usual ingredients that make a ‘Yash Raj’ film, right from the typical Punjabi village to swaying mustard fields to cheerful and boisterous Punjabis. On top of that, it also has the game of cricket intertwined within. So, you would expect it to be thoroughly engrossing also. However, somewhere along the line, the movie falls short of the expectations.
Dil Bole Hadippa Pre-release Review
‘Dil Bole Hadippa’ is the latest venture of Yash Raj Films. Directed by Anurag Singh and produced by Aditya Chopra, the star ensemble of Dil Bole Hadippa includes seasoned actors like Rani Mukherjee, Shahid Kapur, and Anupam Kher, apart from Sherlyn Chopra, Dalip Tahil, Raakhi Sawant, Vrajesh Hirjee, and Sri Vallabh Vyas. The movie combines the spirit of romance and sports, spiced up with a modicum of comedy. The music of the movie is given by the prominent composer Pritam and lyrics are penned by Jaideep Sahni.
‘Dil Bole Hadippa’ marks the comeback of the veteran Rani Mukherjee, after a long hiatus. She has been paired with Shahid Kapoor, most identified for his innocent looks. It promises to be yet another commercial potboiler, a trademark of Yash Raj banner for decades now. Films on cricket have not really been real money-churners at the box-office and Dil Bole Hadippa seems to be solely riding on Rani's acting testimonials, Shahid’s talent and a captivating plot.
‘Dil Bole Hadippa’ narrates the story of a small village girl Veera (Rani Mukherjee), with a humble background and colossal dreams. She works in a local theatre group, but cherishes an unusual dream - to play cricket in the big league with Tendulkar and Dhoni. Rohan (Shahid Kapoor) is the competent captain of an English County cricket team. He comes back to India to employ his skills for his father's cricket team, which has consecutively being losing the matches for the past 8 years.
In pursuance of her hopes to play in the male-dominated version of cricket, Veera sports a turban and beard and becomes a man. She grabs a spot in Rohan's team, owing to her sheer brilliance in the game. Veera Kaur becomes Veer Pratap Singh and the roller-coaster ride begins. Will Veera be able to carry off the plan or will her dreams be shattered? Will Rohan be able to carry his father’s team to victory? With September 18, the release date of the movie being not too far away, the answers will be unveiled soon!
