De Taali has reached the theaters and the verdict is out - there is nothing in this film that makes you feel like giving a clap (taali). One of the major faults with the movie is its story, or rather the lack of it. On top of that, the movie changes momentum every now and then, throwing you completely out of track. The predictability of the script acts like the final nail in the coffin. The editing is not up to the mark, with continuity between the scenes often found lacking. Though the screenplay takes off to a good start initially, it fails miserably in the end.
The only solace in the film is Riteish Deshmukh, who seems to be turning out a master of comedy. If it wasn’t for him, the audience wouldn’t even have the solace of occasional laughs. As for Ayesha Takia, she is getting better day by day. Aftab Shivdasani, otherwise a fine actor, did not seem to have his heart in the film. Rimi Sen, as the con-woman, is quite convincing and definitely gives a good performance. The only thing that we now wonder is that what was Anupam Kher doing in the film? His great talent has been miserably wasted.

The story of ‘De Taali’ revolves around the life of three friends Abhishek - Abhi (Aftab Shivdasani), Amrita - Amu (Ayesha Takia) and Paglu (Ritesh Deshmukh). They are very close to each other, despite the differences, and form an integral part of each others lives. Abhi is a rich guy, who keeps falling in love with almost every beautiful girl he comes across. Paglu, true to his name, keeps on making weird plans and being excited about them. Amongst the trio, it is Amu who is the sweetest and always keeps tending to Abhi’s broken heart.
Amu and Paglu always remain concerned about Abhi - that he might make a very wrong choice one day, as far as girls are concerned. Unknown to her, Amu’s feelings for Abhi are slowly turning from mere friendship to love. However, as time passes, she becomes aware of her own feelings and also starts believing that even Abhi considers her more than a friend. The illusion is broken when Abhi tells her and Paglu about Kartika (Rimi Sen), a hot babe who has just made an entry into his life.
Paglu, being aware of Amu’s feelings for Abhi, starts concocting plans to bring the two closer. He is busy in formulating one or the other plan to make Abhi notice Amu as someone more than just a friend. At the same time, Paglu and Amu also come to know that Kartika is a con-woman trying to take advantage of the innocent Abhi. Will Paglu and Amu be able to bring the real face of Kartika before Abhi? Will Amu be able to win the love of Abhi? What will happen to Paglu? Wait for 20th June, when all questions will be answered with the release of the movie.
