Cobra Beer Ltd. was founded in 1989 by Karan Bilimoria, a Parsi with a Cambridge law degree and chartered accountancy qualifications. Karan Bilimoria met the Mysore Breweries brewmaster and asked him to brew one of the finest ever Indian beer using only the finest natural ingredients.

Cobra is planning to launch Cobra Alcohol Free Beer, Cobra Lower Calorie Lower Carb, and Cobra Bite in India apart from the already existing brands like Cobra Premium Lager and King Cobra. Cobra is also aquiring 76 per cent stake in the Bihar-based brewery Iceberg Industries.
