Dos & Don'ts For Cleaning Brick Floors
  • At the time of starting the cleaning process, the best bet would be to clean a small and less obvious area. This would be helpful, in case cleaning ruins the flooring.
  • While cleaning the brick floors, do not indulge in acids, strong soaps or abrasives. Instead of cleaning, these substances might ruin the flooring completely.
  • Make sure that that the sealers you use are designed for bricks, as basic lacquers and varnishes are not enough.
  • Remember, solvent based polish can be applied over water-based polish. However, it cannot be the other way round.
  • Never sandblast your brick flooring. Though it might look all fine in the beginning, it is said that sandblasting can harm the surface of fired brick. If this occurs, the bricks become susceptible to water damage. Apart from this, bricks might get pitted and soften mortar joints.
  • Do take in necessary precautions, before commencing the cleaning process. Remember to wear glares to protect your eyes and surgical gloves to guard your skin and nails.
