General Motors is all set to introduce a new sedan model in India - Chevrolet Cruze. Believed to be a serious contender for Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla and Volkswagen Jetta, the automobile will be available in three engine options, of which two will be petrol engines and one will be diesel engine. Chevrolet Cruze will be a mid-size sedan, positioned in the C-segment of card in India. It promises to offers the consumers stunning looks, combined with spacious cabin, prolific cargo space and a luxurious seating for five.
Design and Interior
Right from the remarkable double-decker front grille and headlamps to the exquisite detailing of the rubber seals on its exterior, Chevrolet Cruze boasts of impressive looks. The sedan also flaunts a sleek and classy front, which has been adorned with headlamp housings that wrap beautifully around the front corners. The headlamp sweep up like an arrow and move into the fenders with sculpted hood. The shoulder line of Cruze, which has been impressively curved in, combined with a stylish two tier front grille and a "wheels-out/body-in" feature, surely make it a car worth looking out for.
The interiors of Chevrolet Cruze are as impressive as its exteriors, if not better. It features the twin cockpit design that was first introduced in the Corvette sports car model. The large glove-box, huge door bins, and spacious centre console storage makes the sedan quite roomy, from the inside. Variants and Price
Chevrolet Cruze will be available in three variants in India - 1.6 liter petrol engine, 1.8 liter petrol engine and 2.0 liter diesel engine. As for the price of the car, it is expected to be somewhere between Rs. 11 and 13 lacs.
In India, Chevrolet Cruze will come with the option of two petrol engines and one diesel engine. The petrol variants will take the form of 1.6 liter engine and 1.8 liter engine, which promise a maximum power of 113hp and 141hp, respectively. In the former case, the car goes from 0 to 62 mph in a matter of 12.5 seconds, while the latter takes hardly 10 seconds for the same. The 2.0 liter diesel engine, on the other hand, promises 150hp. As for mileage, it is being estimated at 41.5 mpg for 16 liter petrol engine, 36.2 mpg for 1.8 liter petrol engine and 58.9 mp for the 2.0 liter diesel engine.
In terms of safety, Chevrolet Cruze has been loaded with six airbags, compromising of twin front, seat mounted side and roof rail curtain airbags, which promise to protect the riders, in case of a collision. Apart from that, the sedan boasts of anti-lock brakes (ABS), traction control (TCS) electronic stability control (ESC) and standard ESP across the range. In short, Chevrolet Cruze has been upgraded with all the safety features that are necessary to provide a smooth and secure ride for the passengers.
