Canon released its new camera, PowerShot SD1100, in the first half of 2008, as a replacement for the SD1000 (IXUS 70). With the new camera, Canon has combined a resolution of eight megapixel, with 1/2.5" CCD imager and a Canon-branded 3x optical zoom lens. Along with that them the camera also promises image stabilization and covers a fairly standard range of 38-114mm equivalent - a moderate wide angle to a moderate telephoto. Canon PowerShot SD1100 will come with fully automatic Exposure.

For those who love to play with the exposure of the camera, there is the option to tweak it with 2.0EV of exposure compensation. The user will also get four metering modes to handle difficult lighting, including a mode that relates metering to the face detection system of the digital camera. The beginners can rejoice as Canon SD1100 provides 13 scene modes for them. One of the long-exposure modes of the camera is ELPH, which allows you to manually set exposure times, to as long as 15 seconds.

A 2.5" LCD display and a real-image optical zoom viewfinder are some of the other features of Canon PowerShot SD1100. The digital camera will also come equipped with a fairly wide ISO sensitivity range, from 80 to 1600. Another interesting feature is PictBridge compliance, which allows the user to directly print the photos from any printer that supports PictBridge, without involving a PC in-between. It will come with SD/SDHC/MMC memory card and a 32MB card in the product bundle. The NB-4L lithium-ion rechargeable battery will provide you the required power.
