It has often been seen that the more hype a movie creates before release, the worse it turns out to be
afterwards. To some an extent, the same holds true for ‘Blue’ as well. Seriously, the 100 crores spent on the movie could have been put to a much better use, while saving the audience from wasting their money on multiplex tickets as well. What ‘Blue’ suffers from most is the lack of a strong story and good screenplay. In the absence of these two, even the breathtaking visuals and brilliant underwater images by Pete Zuccarini seem to wash out.

What ‘Blue’ suffers from most is the lack of a strong story and good screenplay. In the absence of these two, even the breathtaking visuals and brilliant underwater images by Pete Zuccarini seem to wash out.Anthony D’Souza has taken many cinematic liberties as well. For instance, the treasure buried deep in the sea come from a ship that had sunk in 1949, while coming from Britain to India. Now, the confusion is how did Bahamas (where the ship sank and the treasure was lost) come in the sea route between Britain and India (any guesses?). The slick action sequences and engaging bike sequences surely keep the audience entertained for sometime, but the basic lack of screenplay has an impact here as well and the movie fails to sustain the thrill.
The background score of ‘Blue’ is not as winning as a film of its genre should have. The dialogues and musical score are okay, with nothing exceptional. However, the cinematography surely makes you fall in love with Bahamas. The worst part of the movie is that the ‘climax’ suspense seems to be obvious right from the very start. As for performances, Akshay Kumar should seriously start paying some attention to the kind of films that he signs and his character in them. Sanjay Dutt is good, but needs to get back in shape (the paunch looks horrible). Zayed is okay, while Lara Dutta looks hot! In short, this one’s a DVD watch!

‘Blue’ takes you into the depth of the Pacific Ocean, where a shipwreck has been resting for ages. With time, many fables have come to be associated with the ruined ship, of which one revolves around a treasure buried deep inside. Lured by the alleged riches, many treasure hunters have dived into the ocean. However, none of them has ever come back, with or without the wealth. Rather, the bloody trail of treasure hunters has added even more fascinating rumors to the alleged fortune, waiting to be discovered.
It is said that the treasure buried 250 feet deep into the sea is not only unreachable, but also dangerous. The reason - it is guarded by deadly sharks night and day. Now, three men have come to seek this treasure - Aarav (Akshay Kumar), Sagar (Sanjay Dutt) and Sam (Zayed Khan). Each one of them has a different motive behind his hunt for the riches. For Aarav, a filthy-rich guy, finding the treasure will give him a new high, while its search will allow him to seek the additional risk that makes life a thrilling venture.
The sincere and honest Sagar wants the treasure only for the purpose of saving his girlfriend Mona (Lara Dutta) and his brother. Last, but not the least, is the daredevil Sam, for whom it’s simply a matter of life and death. Whatever be their motives, the aim is the same - diving deep into the murky ocean and laying their hands on the treasure. As they move ahead, they not only have to deal with the sharks, but also the sinister side of human nature. Will they be able to win over the greed, treachery, and their pricking conscious?
