'Barah Aana' is an unusual movie, with a story that has been derived from the routine, ordinary life. The movie, its story and its characters, set against the backdrop of Mumbai city, are quite relatable. Made on a shoestring budget, it mainly scores on the excellent chemistry between the three central characters - Vijay Raaz, Arjun Mathur and Naseeruddin Shah, all of them having a distinct personality. Their meaningless, but fun-filled, banter provides just the right dose of humor for the audience.

Their meaningless, but fun-filled, banter provides just the right dose of humor for the audience. One of the flaws of 'Barah Aana' is that the entire first hour has been dedicated towards build-up of the three friends - their life, their jobs and their problems. During this time, the story hardly moves ahead, with the pace being extremely slow. It is only with the second hour that the movie picks up speed. Even the pre-climax has been deftly handled, however the climax was a bit confusing and asked for some more explanation. In technical aspects, 'Barah Aana' scored on direction as well as cinematography.
The biggest plus point of 'Barah Aana' comprises of the excellent performances by its actors. Naseeruddin Shah was exceptionally well, conveying himself through words only towards the end. Before that, his expressions said it all. Vijay Raaz was simply outstanding, delivering one of his best performances till date. Arjun Mathur, last seen in 'Luck By Chance', fully exploited the chance to prove himself and his acting skills. Tannishtha Chatterjee was good, while Manabanoo Mody Kotwal was hilarious. If you want to see something different, out of the league, 'Barah Aana' is just what you need.
