Seems like Govind brought over his bad luck to the movie also! Though the movie had an interesting theme behind it, it wasn't transformed into a convincing screenplay. Rather than being a story of a common man, who seems to be favored by bad luck all the time, 'Bad Luck Govind' ended up having a one-dimensional gang-war track. On top of that, a love angle has been added unnecessarily to the story, with the heroine serving only one purpose - being kidnapped by the villain in the climax.Throughout the movie, you see Govind being a victim of misfortune and the moment you get convinced that he is indeed being chased by bad luck, the story changes track. The director brings in a new view, that there isn't something like bad luck in this world and all the mishaps were the result of Govind's pessimism. Now, who needed this moral lesson from him? We certainly didn't! There is also almost no humor in the films, as the so-called 'witty' jokes fall flat completely. The pace of the movie is slow and there no finesse in the direction.
Talking about performances, Gaurav Kapoor disappointed us very much. When it came to portraying the role of a common man, he was no 'Vinay Pathak'. He was hardly tolerable in the film, under-acting in most of the scenes. On the other hand, Govind Namdeo was characteristically dramatic. Vrajesh Hirjee, Ganesh Yadav and Lalit Tiwari were okay, while Hrishitaa Bhatt was totally wasted. The only actor that we feel managed to impress a bit was Parmeet Sethi. As for Zakir Hussain, we definitely got to see some variation.

Bollywood is all set to welcome the New Year with a comedy drama 'Bad Luck Govind'. With Gaurav Kapur in the lead role, the movie is scheduled for a release on 9th January 2009. It has been directed by Varun Khanna and produced by Tarun Arora, Varun Khanna, Himanshu Shah & Chirag Shah, under the banner 'Artesian Media & Entertainment'. Its star cast includes, apart from Gaurav, Hrishita Bhatt, Archana Puran Singh, Parmeet Sethi, Govind Namdeo, Vrajesh Hirjee, Zakir Hussain, Ganesh Yadav, Amit Mistri, Manoj Tiger and Lalit Tiwari.
The music for 'Bad Luck Govind' has been provided by Abu Malik, while Madan Pal is its lyricist. The story of the movie, as the name suggests, revolves around Govind and his tryst with luck, which always seems to go against him. He is a neurotic, irrational and bad-luck-favored guy, from Delhi, whose luck always seems to be on the wrong side. The problem in his connection with the higher powers of the universe is so much that when he passes by a cow, she stops giving milk and when he holds a cup of tea in his hand, the milk in it curdles.
Mamta (Archana Puran Singh) is a news anchor and Govind gets involved in an uproarious national incident with her. Now, he lands up in Mumbai, where the bad luck becomes worse. He ends up colliding with six crazy underworld 'bhais' -satta (gambling) bookies - (Govind Namdev, Parmeet Sethi, Vrajesh Hirjee, Lalit Mohan Tiwari and Ganesh Yadav) and a beautiful nurse (Hrishitaa Bhatt). As the luck of the bhai, nurse and Govind entwine, funny situations follow. Amidst all this chaos and drama, Govind learns to believe in life, faith and the power of positive.
