All the AR Rahman fans out there have a big reason to be happy. The talented music composer has launched his own music orchestra, to be known as 'Global Music' in India. Not only is 'Global Music' the first orchestra of Rahman, but also the first homegrown orchestra of the country. The most famous contemporary music composer of India launched his full-fledged orchestra, after an agonizing wait of seven years. 'Global Music' is expected to be fully operational within the coming two years.
It will have professional musicians of both India as well as the West, who will be of international standards. The orchestra will play a combination of different instruments. With 'Global Music', AR Rahman is hoping to bring more professionalism in film music too. He intends to introduce millions of Indian music-lovers to entertainment in the form of 'opera and concert’. The symphony orchestra will be in the western mode. Rahman will be performing his own composition for the music industry and the music lovers, throughout India.
If this wasn’t enough, along with the launch of his orchestra, AR Rahman also announced the launch of KM Conservatory, the music school to be started by him for professional musicians. The school will be located in the outskirts of the Chennai. KM Conservatory of Music will work in collaboration with Audio Media Education, an Apple-authorized training centre, to be opened in July 2008. It will lay emphasis on Indian and Western, instrumental as well as vocal music, apart from music technology.
