After producing the not so winning Shootout at Lokhandwala, Sanjay Gupta is geared up to flash big screen with Alibaug - a movie about emotions, friendship, and memories, and which is actually different from his former movies’ genre. Amidst a huge star cast, including Sameer Soni, Diya Mirza, Manasi Joshi Roy, Sanjay Suri and Sanjay Dutt, Mr. Gupta has once again confirmed his friendship with Sanju Baba, who has worked as his co-producer. Bappa Lahiri, son of Bappi Lahiri - the music maestro of Bollywood, would emerge as a music director for the first time.The plot of Alibaug revolves around a dying professor who used to teach Mughal history in college and had a great loving group of students, who were passionate about their friendship. As the time moved on, friends drifted apart and their sense of belongingness wane away. The professor realized at his deathbed that he must bring his students closer and meet them ahead of going to heaven. He wants to re-live those moments of pleasure with his favorite students. Though his old students have moved far in their material lives, somewhere they have become weak at feelings and emotions.
The bonds, relationships, and attitudes, everything has lost its meaning to these students. In fact, love is now just a four-letter word to them. It’s the professor himself, who can actually revive the friendship amongst friends settled in different parts of the world. He is the one who can bring them out of their self-centered lives. Will this dying lecturer success in bringing the lost friends together? And will they realize their pain of separation and bonding back again? For now, just wait and keep a watch, whether Sanjay would be successful at his emotional trial or not.
