Finally, after a long wait, a Hindi movie has finally been released. However, '99', starring Kunal Khemu 99 Movieand Soha Ali Khan, could not live up to the expectations (and there were many, since it was the first Hindi film to be released in so many weeks). Almost the entire first half has been invested in building up the film and it is well after the first one hour that the story actually begins to take shape. As for the next one hour, we could not find anything much writing home about. Thankfully, the climax turned out to be interesting and provided at least some worth for our money.

Amongst the many faults of '99' is that there are many scenes that have been put in individual scope and hardly bear any relation to the movie, as a whole. Even the editing was not up to the mark and left a lot to be desired. We cannot say much about the cinematography either, especially something good. Talking about the performances, Kunal Khemu surely came across as impressive, in what limited scope he got. However, the person who stole the show was Amit Mistry. As to the rest of the cast, nobody was too good or too bad, just kinda ok. If you have nothing better to do on this weekend, you might just try watching '99'.

Pre-Release Review
99 Hindi MovieAfter a long time, Kunal Khemu and Soha Ali Khan will be seen on-screen, that too in the same flick. They are a part of the star cast of '99', a comedy flick that also boasts of names like Vinod Khanna, Amit Mistry, Boman Irani, Mahesh Manjrekar, Simone Singh and Cyrus Broacha. It has been directed by Krishna DK and Raj Nidimoru, with Shamir Tandon being the music director. Produced by Aditya Shastri and Anupam Mittal, the movie will be released on 15th May 2009, under the banner of 'People Pictures'.

The story of '99', a movie set in the year 1999, revolves around the life of Sachin (Kunal Khenu) and his friend Zaramud (Cyrus Broacha), both of them small time techno-crooks. Since it is the time when cell phone and internet are gaining popularity, the crooks decide to play a little game. They duplicate the SIM cards of people and sell them to unscrupulous buyers, for a high price. While they get the money, the innocent buyers feel that have managed to gain a mobile connection, without any tension of astronomical bills.

Soon enough, the cops catch up with the duo and a chase starts. Sachin and Zaramud, somehow, manage to lay their hands on a white Mercedes, which belongs to none other than AGM (Mahesh Manjrekar). AGM is a big time goon, having a much higher status in the crime world than the two small-time crooks. As if the stealing was not enough, Sachin and Zaramud also end up getting the Mercedes involved in an accident. Now, unintentionally, they have come under AGM's debt and will have to pay it as well.

AGM recovers his debt by making Sachin and Zaramud serve as his recovery agents. One fine day, they find themselves going to Delhi, to retrieve money from Rahul (Boman Irani), a businessman who has become a compulsive gambler. There, Rahul ends up meeting Pooja (Soha Ali Khan), working at the five-star hotel he is staying. After meeting Rahul, Sachin and Zaramud forget about recovering the money. Rather, all three cough up their life savings to play the biggest bet of their life, on a cricket match. What will happen? Will they win the bet or lose all of their life savings? Now, what will AGM do to them?
