The second venture of Vikram Bhatt into the 'horror' genre, after 'Raaz', has hit the theaters. After a long time, the ace director seems to be in control once again. '1920', the movie about love, lust and paranormal forces, is set in the year 1920 and it is this 'bygone era' taste that makes it class apart from 'Raaz'. We agree that you won't be sitting at the edge of your seat throughout the movie, but you will also not feel as if you have wasted your time. '1920' has its fair share of terrifying moments, which definitely manage to shake you up.

 

There are certain slow scenes in the movie, where you wish that the pace should have been held onto. Even the reason why the spirit seeks revenge should have been more elaborated, to create a stronger impact. Still, the few shortcomings do not rob the movie of its shine entirely. The way the story has been concluded is just apt for a horror movie and definitely deserves applause. '1920' promised lots of scary moments and you will find no dearth in this context. While the story is well etched, its execution is also excellent.

 

Coming down to performances, Adah Sharma is excellent and plays her part with élan. Rajneesh Duggal, though a little awkward at places, shows great potential.  Anjori Alagh not only looks spectacular, but also manages to impress the audience in the second half of the film. Raj Zutshi is another actor to look out for, in the film, while Indraneel does his job well. All in all, '1920' is a 'paisa vasool' kind of movie, especially if you like horror flicks. You can watch it in a multiplex and not feel as if you have wasted you money.
